Frans Schartau Business Institute
Frans Schartau Business Insitute has provided vocational education for adults for over a century.
The Institute was founded with Stockholms Grosshandelssocietet (The Wholesalers Society of Stockholm) as its principal in 1865. Even today, we collaborate closely with the Swedish business sector. Our vocational education courses have an excellent reputation and are recognised by businesses and professionals. It is not uncommon for businesses to contact us directly when they are looking to recruit staff.
We focus on courses within the framework of Higher Vocational Education Courses (HVEC). HVEC is a post-secondary education based on close collaboration with a workplace. In HVECs the theoretical learning is integrated and blended with vocational practice at the workplace. HVECS provide opportunities to gain firsthand experience and contacts in working life.
Blending allows the students to get an insight into their chosen professions early in their training and make important contacts for their future professional career. And working life is also able to become familiar with the competence and skills of their potential co-workers of the future.
Up to one third of the course duration is spent at a workplace. The duration of our courses is between 40 and 80 weeks. All courses are free of charge and students are entitled to financial aid. The courses are run under the supervision of the National Agency of Higher Vocational Education and the Institute is a part of the Adult Educational Administration of the city of Stockholm.
Please note that all of our teaching is done in Swedish. Some programmes have professional English as a subject.
