Your future in the hotel industry
This programme provides you with the knowledge and skills required for a career in two of the most guest-intensive departments of a hotel: the reception desk and the conference department. After one year of training, you will have the skills required to work as a receptionist and conference host at a hotel, conference facility, study centre, exhibition centre or company.
Good prospects
The tourism industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Over the past ten years, the Swedish tourism industry has grown considerably and job opportunities within the industry have increased by around 25 per cent. In our assessment, there will continue to be a good demand for highly skilled and sales-oriented staff from the hotel sector owing to the increased level of travel. The hotel industry has shown a considerable interest in this course.
Everything you need
This programme encompasses everything from hotel booking systems and knowledge about conferences and reception to customer psychology and customer relations in order to provide you with a wide range of skills within the area of reception and conferences.
The trend within the industry is for more departments to have interactive operations. For this reason, this approach, known as ‘cross training’, is a recurring theme throughout the training programme.
You will also complete a project where you will gain in-depth knowledge about how to make various conference arrangements in practice and how to administer them using the latest computer and booking systems.
Eleven weeks of your training programme comprise Work Place Training.
